Today’s Food for the Soul: Acts Chapters 24-26

Persuade Others to Follow Jesus Christ

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.”  And Paul said, “I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.” (Acts 26:28-29, NKJV)

We need boldness when we declare the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and consider our approach in such a way that we deliver our message to fit our audience. Let us also consider how we can relate and communicate effectively with them, knowing that we are all unique, whether they are relatives, friends, acquaintances, classmates, co-workers, or people in authority.

Recognize the factors that will affect people’s receptivity, such as age, gender, education, character, race, culture, and language. We can speak boldly and yet, at the same time, be creative to address their specific needs at a level that they can understand and accept. In short, we need to be flexible like the Apostle Paul, have a discerning spirit in facing a diverse audience when sharing the Gospel.

Have you noticed how the Apostle Paul addressed those in authority with the utmost respect? So, we must also make sure that we show respect to all people, especially those in authority. I believe that you would agree with me that you would prefer to hold a conversation with a courteous person than a disrespectful one. Be polite and respectful!

Moreover, when you share your personal experiences and testimonies on how God worked in your lives, be mindful of their reactions. Be sensitive and listen so that you can respond appropriately.

Speak the truth with love (Ephesians 4:15). Be sincere as you speak and share God’s word. Like Paul, you can be successful in winning them for Christ, or you may also experience opposition and rejection. The best part is, you opened your mouth and shared the Gospel.

Remember that God sees your heart and desires to persuade and bring people to Him.

Most importantly, pray that the Holy Spirit guides your steps with the right approach. May He put in your tongue/lips the uncompromised Word of God and speak the appropriate message that would speak straight to their hearts – leading them to salvation.
