Today’s Food for the Soul: Hebrews Chapters 11-13
Let Us Overcome by Faith!
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2, NKJV)
For the believers, Hebrews chapter 11 is commonly known as a “Hall of Faith.” This chapter listed ordinary people with extraordinary life journeys who got recognized for their faith in God and how God moved mightily through them.
These men and women have notable characters. They firmly believe in God and His promises. They knew who they are in Him and obediently seek His will. Their faith-driven obedience led them through challenges, hardships, persecutions, but through it all, God was with them, who led them to great triumphs.
We learned of many remarkable stories such as shutting the mouths of lions, quenched the raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, received their dead raised to life again. But also note, others were stoned, imprisoned, sawn in two, scourged, tortured, and slain.
Therefore, when faced with hardships and difficulties because of your faith, do not be discouraged or be afraid. Let us hold on firmly to God’s promises. Focus your eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be reminded that you are a victor, not a victim! An overcomer, not a loser, a conqueror in Jesus’ Name!
