Today’s Food for the Soul: 1 John Chapters 1-5
Jesus Christ Our Advocate
“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2, NKJV)
Can you imagine someone standing for your welfare even though you know that you do not deserve it – especially at the stake of His own life? Yet, this is precisely what Jesus has done because of His love for us (John 15:13).
Have you truly encountered Jesus Christ – the Son of God, our Advocate to the Father? He freely gave himself for our forgiveness, justification, and to set us apart. Through Him, we received the right to become a child of God and co-heir to all the promises of God.
Jesus Christ is worthy of our true allegiance. Therefore, come before Him and receive Him today as your personal savior and Lord if you have not done so. Let Him be your advocate – not just a go-to person when you sin, but most importantly, to flee from the wicked ways.
Pursue Him because He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Remain in fellowship with Him by keeping His commands and doing the will of the Father. As you remain connected with the Son, you shall stay in a relationship with the Father, and you shall enjoy the promise of eternal life and shall live happily ever after.
