Today’s Food for the Soul: 2John 1; 3John 1; Jude 1

Today’s Food for the Soul: 2John 1; 3John 1; Jude 1

Be Established on Your Most Holy Faith

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.” (Jude 1:20-23, NKJV)

Reflecting on this passage, let us ponder on the instruction of Jude, the servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. What does building up on most Holy faith mean? How can we achieve it?

Building oneself in most holy faith means to be firmly established in the faith – steadfast, immovable, and abounding in the work of the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58). Achieving it is not as simple as it sounds. First, we must submit to our Father and His will. Second, we must engage as directed in His words. Third, being born in the family of God, through Jesus Christ, we must continue to live, walk, grow and mature in it based on the doctrines taught by the word of God, as Apostle Paul said, “…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The word of God may come to the believer either by passive or active means. Passively, such as hearing from someone (Sunday service/preaching or Bible study); and active by deliberately reading and studying the word of God.

Guided by the truth, praying in the Holy Spirit is a critical aspect of our progressive transformation and sanctification. Driven by the love of God, we must walk in complete submission and obedience to the Lord Jesus’ commands summed up in two: Love God and love people (Matthew 22:37-39). Always remember the grace and mercy bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ. Likewise, be gracious and be merciful to others.

As you journey to your destiny, know that the promises are yes and amen to us who believe (2 Corinthians 1:3-10). But, be mindful and do not take it lightly- do not open any doors to the devil – because the battle is real! “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

As a new man in Christ, established in the faith, be compassionate, for you are called to reconcile the lost with the Father through the Ministry of Reconciliation (2Corinthians 5:17-19). The same grace and mercy given to you and me await those who will receive the gift of salvation through our witness. Imagine the people in your reach given the chance of hearing the truth – being saved by your witness: Your life testimony and you sharing the Gospel of Truth.  We cannot save the whole world, but one soul will make a difference (Luke 15:7,10). More than one would be AWESOME!

Therefore, brother and sister, do not give up. Do not fear. The devil is already doomed, and those who follow after him. Instead, contend earnestly in faith for your personal growth and maturity, for the people you love, and those who are around you! Stir up your faith: Pray, meditate on the word, focus on Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith! (Hebrews 12:2)

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1:24,25)
