Today’s Food for the Soul: Acts Chapters 1-3
Holy Spirit’s Empowerment
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38, NKJV)
It is incredible how God moved during the assembly of the disciples. Since then, the power of the Holy Spirit was evident. The disciples amazingly experienced it and witnessed it in awe by many diverse people.
In this passage, we can categorize three groups of people: (1) the believers who are engaged and become vessels of God to perform miracles, signs, and wonders; (2) the believers who heard what God is doing; (3) the onlookers – witnesses of what God is doing: People gets to see the power of the Holy Spirit manifested before their eyes – some eventually believe and turned to God, but sadly, others hardened their heart, mocked, and rejected the power behind the act they witnessed.
Is it not the issue up to this time? The ruler of this world continues to blind the eyes and hardens the heart of many (2Corinthians 4:4). People are deceived and being deceived; they are confused and distracted. The truth has been adulterated, watered down, and taken out of context to serve the flesh, but not the spirit.
When was the last time you heard the power of the Holy Spirit manifested and witnessed? Are there souls won as a result?
Somehow, as we allowed ourselves to be enticed by the worldly flow, we drifted away from the truth that we were given the power through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. You probably are asking – what is this power? Think of the FRUIT and GIFT of the Holy Spirit. We must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and yield to His power!
