Today’s Food for the Soul: John Chapter 19

Today’s Food for the Soul: John Chapter 19

Truth Revealed

Pilate then went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him.” (John 19:4, NKJV)

This is not the only passage that recorded Pilate found no basis for a charge against Jesus. In John 18:36-38, Pilate faced Jesus, interrogated Him; nevertheless, Pilate said to the accusers, “I find no fault in Him at all.” Hear the TRUTH – Pilate’s verdict was correct because Jesus was innocent – there is NO SIN in Him!

In the current political climate and the age of social media, we all hear of fake news. If there is the “real” thing, there are the “imitation” ones, like those fake Louis Vuitton bags and other famous brands. If there are genuine, natural organic foods, then there will always be adulterated products like fake rice, fake baby formula, and many others. How many times do we hear food companies sponsoring research of their products telling us how awesome breakfast is, and now, the latest trend is intermittent fasting meaning no breakfast equals no high cholesterol, sugar, and triglycerides? What really is the truth?

Everything changes, but one thing will never change is God’s Word – the TRUTH! The devil, the father of lies and deception, will try to twist and turn the truth. So, in the Bible, we are constantly reminded to “Be not deceived.”

“What is truth?” asked Pilate. He probably was not seeking the truth but curious about what this accused man has to say so he can conclude his verdict. Who is this man before him that the Jewish religious class is so enraged of him?

Let us answer Pilate according to the Scriptures.

  1. Jesus is truth. His testimonies, preaching, future forecast, discernments, salvation, and promises. In Hebrews 6:17-20, the writer encourages the believers about the certainty of God’s promises. Do you know the wonderful promises of God to all who believe? The promise of eternal life, salvation, blessings, healings, and deliverances are among the many. All 7,000 of them. Have you taken hold of these promises? Is God true to His promises?

Let me break down the two things that God did to assure us: (1) He swore by an oath, (2) He can’t lie – it is impossible for Him to lie. Yes, as the idiom goes, you can take this promissory note to the bank!

  1. The Gospel is the truth of God. In Colossians 1:5, “…the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel.” The bad news, humankind is on a beeline to hell because of its fallen nature. The good news – 1 Corinthians 15:1, Paul talks about the Gospel that he preached. “Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel – good news – which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you…”

What is in that Gospel? Jesus died to save us! Hallelujah! Praise God forevermore! There is a way to be saved. There is no other atonement for our sins, only Jesus the righteous – the innocent who suffered and died for us. Jesus, the Holy Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Have you heard the Gospel, my friend? Did you believe it? Have you made Jesus your Savior and Lord? Please do not put it off till tomorrow. Today is the day of your salvation!
