Today’s Food for the Soul: John Chapters 1-2
Boldly Declare God’s Grace and Truth
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14, NKJV)
Our Lord Jesus Christ is God’s expression in human form. Our God incarnate. He took on flesh and was born on Earth to reveal God to humanity. As John 1:18 (NKJV) declares, “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” To see the Lord Jesus is to see God, and to know Him is to experience God’s grace and truth.
It has been said in Isaiah 59:1-2 (NIV), “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Indeed, our sins have separated us from God, but still, He reached down to us and demonstrated His love for us according to Romans 5:8 (AMP), “But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” He endured the suffering on His way to the cross, and before His gruesome death, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing…” (Luke 23:34, NIV). He revealed that God is the Father, and we witnessed that He is full of mercy and grace. With His death, the Lord Jesus took away the sins that separated us from God. He has declared the truth – that God truly loves us by saving us from sin and offering us eternal life.
And just as our Lord Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us, He declared the Good News of salvation and has shown us how much God the Father loves us, so are we to proclaim and embody the Good News about Him in our everyday life.
When we accepted and declared Jesus as Savior and Lord, we became God’s ambassadors (2Corinthians 5:18-21). God called us to love God and to love people! And this is what grace is all about, as Ephesian 2:8 states, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—”
So, what are you waiting for? The time is now – do not hesitate nor procrastinate – boldly declare God’s grace and truth in love!
