Today’s Food for the Soul: John Chapters 3-4
You Must Be Born Again!
“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3, NKJV)
Do you want to see the kingdom of God? Better yet, do you want to be part of the kingdom of God? Is there a Sovereign or Lord over your life? Do you do it God’s way or your way? Are your opinions and worldview that of popular culture or the principles of the Word of God? Are you born again?
Do you follow Christ’s teachings, or do you subscribe to the teachings espoused by philosophers, psychologists, or life coaches full of humanistic, secular philosophies but are devoid of spiritual truths from the Bible? Do you believe in multiple deities and compound divinities, or do you trust in Jesus Christ alone as the way, the truth, and the life? Do you love and believe this God called Jesus? Do you believe Him as the one true God? Are you born again?
Do you see ‘sin’ the way God sees it, enough for Him to take the form of flesh and dwell among men, to be crucified, to die, and to be buried so He may take the place of sinners? Do you hate sin? Are you repulsed by it? Do you run away from it as an unclean thing? Do you feel grieved after sinning? Do you turn to Christ for forgiveness and cleansing and bow to Him in humble repentance? Is your heart disinclined to commit evil and desire to glorify Him in all you do? Are you born again?
Do you fear offending God more than offending man? Do you live with the Lord always before you? Have you tasted the sweetness of fellowshipping with the Lord in the secret place of your heart? Have you known the peace that surpasses all understanding? Are you born again?
Are you afraid to die? Do you have an assurance of salvation when you draw your last breath? Are you born again?
Have you experienced suffering for His sake and carrying your cross? Do you experience “joy unspeakable and full of glory” when the Holy Spirit takes hold of you in those special moments of grace? Are you born again?
Friend, I am not asking if you are part of an organized religion or if you are full of spiritual knowledge. The greatest question in life and in death that needs to be answered today is, “Are you born again?” As Jesus said, “… ‘You must be born again.’” (John 3:7, NIV)
