Today’s Food for the Soul: John Chapters 5-6
Seek Me with All Your Heart
“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” (John 5:39, NKJV)
Jesus was speaking to Pharisees, Sadducees, and experts of the Law. Despite their vast knowledge of the Scriptures, they failed to see Jesus. The symbolisms, types, shadows, and prophecies in the Old Testament were fulfilled in Him and by Him. Jesus is the hidden treasure that needs to be sought.
Friend, do you see Him as the fulfillment of the plan, prophecy, and promise of God to humankind? Do you dig deep in the Scriptures to know about Him, to understand God’s plan of salvation, and to know the LOVE of God – its height, its depth, and its unfailing disposition to all of His creation?
Jesus Christ is the Passover Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. Jesus Christ is the last Adam that triumphed over sin and temptation. He is Boaz, our kinsman-redeemer. He is the friend who sticks closer than a brother. He is the manna, the bread of life which comes down from heaven. He is the brazen serpent to which all who look upon in faith shall be healed. He is Isaac, the “promised son.” He is Joseph, despised by his brothers, rejected, wrongfully accused, punished, but eventually became the salvation of the Israelites in times of death famine. He married a Gentile bride, became the ruler of Egypt, and sat on Pharaoh’s throne. So did our Lord; the Church is his bride. He is now seated at the right hand of the Almighty Father, after saving us from all our sins.
HALLELUJAH! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord (Psalms 118:26). As Jeremiah 29:13 says, “…you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
